CBC Student Media Win Awards at Arkansas College Press Association

The Carillon yearbook and Tower Times newspaper of Central Baptist College received 21 awards at the Arkansas College Press Association state conference on April 26 at Ouachita Baptist University.

Mara Ramirez, editor-in-chief of the 2012 Carillon and a CBC graduate, was named Yearbook Editor of the Year.

Awards received included Carillon staff, yearbook cover, first place; Carillon staff, yearbook endsheets, first place; Corey Shelman, yearbook sports writing, first place, and yearbook feature photo, first place; Mara Ramirez, yearbook art/illustration photo, first place; Mara Ramirez, yearbook divider page, second place; Michael Priest, newspaper spot news photo, second place; Carillon staff, yearbook academic layout, second place; Amber Murray, yearbook academic writing, second place; Carillon staff, yearbook organization layout, third place; Brittney Webster, yearbook sports writing, third place, and yearbook student life writing, third place; Mara Ramirez, yearbook feature layout, honorable mention; Carillon staff, yearbook academic layout, honorable mention; Carillon staff, yearbook portrait layout, honorable mention; Carillon staff, yearbook student life layout, honorable mention; Michael Priest, newspaper art/illustration, honorable mention; Tyler Seabolt, newspaper sports page layout, honorable mention; Katie Ponder, yearbook academic photo, honorable mention; and Kassi Nelson, yearbook feature photo, honorable mention.

Thirteen colleges and universities from around the state attended the conference at Ouachita Baptist University.
