Topping Out Ceremony Planned for November 30th

Topping Out Ceremony to be held at Central Baptist College

 
Conway, AR, - Central Baptist College will host a topping out ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30th to mark another milestone in the construction of the new $6.2 million Signature Academic building on the CBC campus.

A “Steel Topping Out Ceremony” is a construction industry tradition in which the last steel beam of a structure is put into place. The ceremony will include the tradition of signing the beam by the public as well as CBC employees, the CBC Board of Trustees, CBC students, the employees and construction project managers of Clark Contractors and Rik Sowell Architects.

The Signature Academic Building is scheduled to be open by the fall 2012.
  The facility will feature 13 classrooms, a 100+ seat lecture hall, administrative offices, a state of the art computer lab, CBC’s Bible Department, Missions Department, and the PACE and Online Studies Department.

The signature Academic Building and the renovation of the Library & Media Center (entering its planning phase) are the first two construction projects in Vision 2020: A Miracle in the Making. Vision 2020 is a plan to complete 10 projects in the next 10 years to accommodate an enrollment of 2,020 students. The three projects that comprise Phase 1 have an estimated cost of $12 million, and to date CBC has received gifts and commitments totaling more than $7.6 million.

Central Baptist College is a four-year, private, liberal arts college owned and operated by the Baptist Missionary Association of Arkansas. CBC set a record enrollment in the fall 2011 with 858 students and offers 21 Bachelor’s degrees, 19 Minors, and Associate of Arts degrees in several emphases.
