CBC Softball Takes 7th Annual University of Dallas Spring Tournament
The Central Baptist College Lady Mustangs won 5 games over the weekend to win the 7th Annual University of Dallas Spring Tournament. The Lady Mustangs beat University of Dallas, Robert Morris College, and Westminster College to grab the crown. The 5 wins improve their record to 16-6 on the season and have broken the school record for wins with half of the season to go.
"Our girls went to Dallas and played very well, we got great pitching, timely hitting, and solid defense all weekend. I am very excited we are off to a great start, and we are still working towards our goal of a National Championship in April," commented CBC Head Softball Coach Jason Anderson.
The Lady Mustangs will be back in action Friday with a double header at Williams Baptist College.
Mustangs and Lady Mustangs Fall Short
The CBC Men's and Women's Basketball team fall one game short for going to the NCCAA Central Regional Tournament. The Mustangs lost a tough battle with Soutwestern Christian 91-103. The Lady Mustangs ended their season with a last second free throw made by Junior Heidi Charton that gave the Lady Mustangs the victory.
Last season both teams finished as the Region Runner-up. The Mustangs lost in the Central Regional Championship to Dallas Baptist University 74-86, while the Lady Mustangs lost to the 2007 NCCAA National Runner-up Central Christian College.
"We went through some trials and tribulations this season that will only make us grow into the team that God created," commented CBC Head Men's Basketball Coach Josh Austin. "Our goal was to win the the Regional Tournament and go back to the National Tournament. I am very proud of my guys. We are still young and we will be back next season," said Austin.
The Lady Mustangs won their last game and CBC Head Women's Basketball Coach Lyle Middleton is pumped for next season. "I believe that the last game is a preview of what is to come. We have the majority of our girls back and we will be very strong next season," said Middleton.
