Journalism Students Receive Awards
Two CBC students received writing awards for the 2009 Carillon yearbook from the Baptist Press Excellence in Journalism collegiate competition.
Junior Hannah Crites of Alma received first place and second place in academic copy. Crites is co-editor of the Tower Times student newspaper.
Senior Rachel Waymire of Sherwood received first place for student life copy and third place in sports copy. Waymire is editor-in-chief of the 2010 Carillon.
Awards were announced Oct. 29 during a webcast live streaming conference sponsored by Baptist Press.
Colleges taking part in the competition included Baylor University, Liberty University and Union University, plus other Christian colleges and universities across the U.S.
This was CBC’s first year to enter the competition. Ann Gardner is student publications adviser.
