CBC Alumni Stories

Dr Garrett Taylor works as a dentist in Pine Bluff and received his associate degree from CBC (1999-2001), his bachelor’s degree in biology from UCA and his DDS from the University of Tennessee’s College of Dentistry in Memphis in 2007.

No Better Place

“There’s no better place to further your education, especially if you are a Christian” said Taylor when asked to give advice to today’s students. “You will get the Bible classes you want, and you can get the general degrees you want. You will be able to establish close relationships with your classmates and professors. Everything is taught from a Christian standpoint, especially in the science classes. It’s going to help you defend your position with whatever you decide to do after college.”

My CBC Experience

Dr. Taylor described his CBC experience in this way: “I had a blast. I made friends and several of them I am still friends with today. I loved the small class sizes and the relationships with professors. I feel that I was prepared in education and got a great Biblical foundation. Attending CBC helped me get into the Word, which is something I hadn’t really done before, despite growing up in church.” Taylor said his favorite times at CBC were the chapel services and getting to know new people. His uncle (Charles Atteberry) was the president at the time and his mother is also an alum.

A Great Influence

When asked how CBC influenced what he does today, Taylor responded: “It definitely gave me a great scientific base. Mrs. Gabbard hammering in on the basic biology classes and taking chemistry classes. It helped me learn how to study and learn material. Dr. Jesse Thomas also made me study the Old Testament really hard as well, and that still influences my work now.”

A Family Legacy

Dr. Taylor said he thinks about the legacy that CBC is leaving behind for all students. “My entire family has been big supporters for a long time,” he added. “I can afford to help CBC continue the legacy and I’m very proud to say that I can do that. I have a daughter and it would make me very happy if she chose to attend CBC as well.”
