CBC Alumni Story
Sean Baskin is a recent graduate and former Central Baptist College baseball player and cross country runner.
Sean obtained his degree in Kinesiology in May, 2018 and served four years in various capacities at Harlan Park Baptist Church, such as youth intern and worship team leader. Since 2018 Sean has served as an assistant football, assistant baseball and junior high basketball coach at James Bowie High School in Simms, Texas just outside of Texarkana.
My CBC Experience
“I chose Central Baptist College because of the atmosphere, small class sizes and competitive sports programs,” said Baskin, who enrolled in the fall of 2014.
One memorable moment that Sean experienced at CBC was watching Jacob Pangle hit a half-court shot to win 100 dollars at halftime of a basketball game during the 2015-16 academic year.
Mustangs in St. Louis
He also experience another memorable moment on an entirely different level. Sean was fortunate to be on the 2016 CBC Mustangs baseball team that played an exhibition game at Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals, on October 1st, 2016. The team played after the last game of the regular season for the St. Louis Cardinals as part of their amateur series program. An experience he will never forget.
The most valuable lesson Sean learned as a student at CBC was every decision that you make influences the future. The game of baseball and cross country and not training properly during the off-season taught me that valuable lesson.
Sean said the one thing he would impart to future students is “Make every moment count. College will fly by and then it’s over. Enjoy it and see where God takes you.”
