Full Financial Aid Process

Use this checklist to guide you through the process.  These are each very important steps to completing the financial aid process.

  1. Submit your Application for Admission to CBC, your high school transcript, your ACT test scores, and complete your FAFSA (details below) in order to begin the process of determining how much student aid you can receive.

  2. Set up your student FSA ID and have your parent(s) also set their FSA ID. Find more information and set up FSA IDs here.

  3. Apply for federal student aid by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at studentaid.govUse our school code:  001093. Click here to see how it works.

  4. Apply for state aid (if you are an Arkansas resident) by completing the YOUniversal Application online at scholarships.adhe.edu by June 15th, or by February 1st if applying for Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship.

  5. Apply for Endowed Scholarships by completing the online application by March 15.  The application will be available in January.

  6. Search for outside scholarships.  There are several suggested search websites listed on our scholarships page.

  7. Complete and return the CBC Financial Aid form(s)  + Printable Forms

  8. Apply for a CBC Work Study position, complete the Student Employment Questionnaire

  9. Submit documents requested by our Financial Aid office as soon as possible.

  10. Notify our office of any scholarships you are awarded from outside sources.

  11. CHECK YOUR EMAIL!  We will contact you by email using the address you listed on your FAFSA.

Aid Verification Worksheets

The process of documenting the information you provided on your FAFSA is called Verification.

If selected for Verification by the U.S. Department of Education, you will need to print the appropriate worksheet from the list below.  The forms will provide detailed information about any additional documents you will be required to submit to the CBC Financial Aid office.  Your Financial Aid Officer will advise you as to which form you will need to submit.

How to Obtain Tax Return Transcript

  1. You can log into your FAFSA and use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to import your tax information onto the FAFSA.

  2. Use one of the following options to obtain a Tax Return Transcript directly from the IRS.

    • Contact or visit your local IRS office • Little Rock – (501) 396-5711 – 700 W Capitol, Little Rock, AR 72201

    • Get Transcript ONLINE – Go to www.IRS.gov, under the Tools heading on the IRS homepage, click “Get a tax transcript.” Click “Get Transcript ONLINE.” Make sure to request the “IRS Tax Return Transcript” and NOT the “IRS Tax Account Transcript.” To use the Get Transcript Online tool, the user must have (1) access to a valid email address, (2) a text-enabled mobile phone (pay-as-you-go plans cannot be used) in the user’s name, and (3) specific financial account numbers (such as a credit card number or an account number for a home mortgage or auto loan). The transcript displays online upon successful completion of the IRS’s two-step authentication.

    • Automated Telephone Request – 1-800-908-9946. The transcript is generally received within 10 business days from the IRS’s receipt of the telephone request.

    • Get Transcript by MAIL – Go to www.irs.gov, under the Tools heading, click “Get a tax transcript.” Click “Get Transcript by MAIL.” Make sure the request the “IRS Tax Return Transcript” and NOT the “IRS Tax Account Transcript.” The transcript is generally received within 10 business days from the IRS’s receipt of the online request

    • Paper Request Form – IRS Form 4506T-EZ or IRS Form 4506-T. The transcript is generally received within 10 business days from the IRS’s receipt of the paper request form.
