Scholarship Dinner

It was our pleasure to welcome a large crowd to the annual dinner for endowed scholarship donors and students. The purpose of the annual gathering is to show appreciation for our scholarship contributors, and to also allow the student recipient to meet his/her scholarship provider. Over 100 donors and students were in attendance at the dinner held on Sept. 21 in the Childers Dining Hall located in the Mabee Student Services Complex. During the event, guests were blessed to hear the Central Baptist College Singers under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Jim Turner. The CBC Singers led the group in worship, and set the tone for a wonderful evening. Guests were also able to have their photo taken with their student scholarship recipients, and students were able to deliver personal thank you notes to their scholarship donors. For the 2017-2018 academic year, $68,725 was awarded to 76 students from 59 active endowed scholarship funds. Central Baptist College has over 70 endowed scholarships, representing over $2.2 million in contributions. Endowed scholarships serve as a lasting tribute, and as with all of the endowed scholarships at the institution, the initial donation will be placed in the permanent endowment. The principal will never be spent; only the interest will be awarded as scholarships. The scholarship will be awarded by vote of the CBC Scholarship Committee, taking into account the qualifications and eligibility of the applicants as detailed in the scholarship agreement. Establishing an endowed scholarship is a simple process, and may be accomplished with an initial gift of $1,000.
