Central Baptist College Hosts 7th Annual Scholarship Gala
March 11, 2026

Central Baptist College hosted its 7th Annual Scholarship Gala on March 5 at Antioch Baptist Church in Conway. The evening brought together friends, alumni, churches, businesses, and community leaders from across the region to support the mission of the College and invest in student scholarships. The event featured keynote speaker Jonathan Falwell, chancellor of Liberty University and senior pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va.
The theme of this year’s gala, “Anchored in Faith,” reflected the College’s mission to integrate Christian faith and academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment. Throughout the evening, guests were reminded of CBC’s commitment to preparing students not only for their careers, but also for lives of faithful service and leadership.
Yalanda Merrell, Director of Audience Engagement at Lifeword, served as emcee for the evening. Jake McCandless, Chairman of the CBC Board of Trustees, Executive Director of Stand Firm, and Lead Pastor of Epic Life Church, opened the evening with prayer. Guests enjoyed a meal prepared by CBC Dining Services under the direction of Chef Billie Rodriguez.
Falwell delivered a powerful message encouraging attendees to remain faithful to the work God has called them to do and to continue investing in the next generation. Reflecting on the legacy of his father, Dr. Jerry Falwell, and the founding of Liberty University, Falwell challenged guests to look ahead with vision and faith.
“Don’t see CBC for what it was or what it is,” Falwell said. “See CBC for what it can be.”
The evening also featured musical performances from the Central Baptist College Fine Arts Department. The CBC Band, under the direction of Donna Bradley, performed A Southern Hymn by Bill Locklear, Down in the River by Jay Bocook, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing by Randall Standridge, and Canticle: All Creatures of Our God and King by Claude T. Smith. The CBC Chamber Choir, under the direction of Max Sullivan, presented Ride on King Jesus arranged by Howard Helvey, The Plans I Have for You by Jonathan Adams, and Fly Away by Jonathan Reid, accompanied by Jana Hefner.
During the program, CBC President Dr. Jeremy Langley announced that $551,643 had been raised through event sponsorships and private donations, with all proceeds designated for student scholarships. The College also recognized the 61 event sponsors and the many individuals and businesses whose generosity helped make the evening possible.
“We are deeply grateful for the many churches, alumni, businesses, and friends who continue to invest in the mission of Central Baptist College,” said Langley. “Because of their generosity, students are able to pursue a Christ-centered education that prepares them to serve Christ in their churches, communities, and professions. The impact of these scholarships will be felt for generations to come.”
The evening concluded with a closing prayer offered by Brian Ratliff, Children’s Pastor at Antioch Baptist Church.
