Half Century Club Induction

Central Baptist College alumni, friends, and prospective students assembled on campus to enjoy Homecoming festivities on January 31 and February 1. What a pleasure to welcome everyone to campus! Here is the Homecoming 2020 Wrap Up. Homecoming activities began on Friday evening, January 31, with the Half Century Club Induction Ceremony for the graduating classes of 1968-1970. This marked the fourth Half Century Club Induction held at Central Baptist College since the Clubs inception in 2013. Twelve former students were on hand to participate in the ceremony. After comments from President Terry Kimbrow he welcomed Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Gary McAllister, and CBC Alumni Association President Julian Dominquez to assist in the presentation of the inductees. Each inductee received an engraved medal bearing the Central Baptist College seal.  

SOS Reunion

The SOS Reunion celebrated 15 years of servant leadership through the Student Orientation Staff. Approximately 50 current and former SOS members were on hand for this time of fellowship. SOS began during the 2004-2005 academic year under the direction of then Dean of Students, Sancy Faulk. Since that time there have been three additional Orientation Directors, Rachel Steele, Kerry Norris, and current Director Kaylee St. John. Hundreds of students have served through this organization in the past 15 years. 

Endowed Scholarship Breakfast

Endowed scholarship donors and their student scholarship recipients came together for a breakfast to begin activities on Saturday, February 1. During this event donors and students were able to come together so that students could thank their donors and donors could learn more about their scholarship recipient(s). For the 2019-2020 academic year, 82 endowed scholarships were awarded totaling $57,925, up over $12,000 from scholarship awards during the 2018-2019 academic year. President Terry Kimbrow also announced that the CBC Endowment topped the $3 million mark for the first time in the institutions history. 

Meet the Mustangs

Members of the Womens and Mens Basketball teams participated in a Meet the Mustangs event where they signed team photos and met with fans of the Mustangs! 

Alumni and Friends Luncheon

The Alumni and Friends Luncheon was held in the Mabee Student Services Complex Dining Hall. Alumni Association President Julian Dominquez presided over this event which honored recipients of the Alumni Association Awards. 

Charles Reddin was honored with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. David and Megan McFerron were the recipients of the Young Alumnus Award. Angela Rice was awarded the Mustang Community Impact Award.The Enrollment Management Division also presented their Mustang Ambassador of the Year award to Kellie Harper. Also recognized during the Alumni Luncheon were recipients of the Kenneth Brown Endowed Scholarship, Coby Harvison, Sydney Hawkins, and Katie Vandergriff. 

The Alumni Association presented a $1,000 donation to this endowed fund.Olivia Farris, a junior elementary education major from Greenbrier, Arkansas, was crowned the 2020 Homecoming Queen. Olivia is the daughter of Robbie and Gail Farris and attends Bethlehem Baptist Church in Greenbrier. Members of the Homecoming Court were Jordan Wilkie, Rachel Burns, Mallory Sullivan, Anna Crocker, Queen Olivia Farris, Kobie Hartman, Kory Westerman, Elizabeth Riley, and Kat Carson. 

Crowning of the Homecoming 2020 Queen

A Queens Gathering was held earlier in the day in the Story Library for former CBC Homecoming Queens to have a time of fellowship with the current Homecoming court. Former Queens in attendance at the Queens Gathering were:

Kaylee St. John, Robyn (Smith) Dodson, Lauren (Eyre) Crawley, Janna (Allen) Burns, Julie (Jones) Riddle, and Ruth Cheng. Several athletic events took place during Homecoming weekend. The Mustangs Baseball Team played Benedictine in one game on Friday and two games on Saturday. The Mustangs started the season with a sweep winning all three games in their season opener. The Lady Mustangs Softball Team hosted an alumni game at the City of Colleges Park and several alumni and prospective students were on hand for this event. CBC Wrestling was on the road competing in the Missouri Valley Open. 

Mustang Athletic Events

On Saturday, February 1, both basketball teams brought home wins in two very exciting games! The Lady Mustangs defeated Harris-Stowe State 83-80. The Mustangs also defeated Harris-Stowe State 97-76.  

Battle of the Bands

The Presidents Leadership Council (PLC) hosted the first annual Central Baptist College Battle of the Bands. Event proceeds benefitted the PLC class project which is to furnish two student spaces in the Mabee Student Services Complex. Celebrity Judges for the event were Travis Sellers with Antioch Baptist Church, Gavin Roberts with Perspective College Ministry, Ryan Scantling with Baptist Collegiate Ministry, and CBC President Terry Kimbrow. Five bands performed and the winners were PB&J, a CBC employee band with members Preston Jones, Brentley Spencer, and Justin Moore.
