Central Baptist College athletic director Lyle Middleton announced that track & field will be added to the sports offered by CBC in 2018-19. Cross Country coach Cezar Terlea will coach the team with the first students expecting to be enrolled in the Spring of 2018. This is another exciting time for CBC athletics, Middleton said. The start of track & field will allow us to add 15-20 new athletes. This addition will allow cross country athletes to compete in both the fall and spring. Coach Terlea has been actively recruiting for the last few months to secure the start of the 2018-19 season.

The addition of track & field will increase the number of sports offered at CBC to 16 because indoor and outdoor track & field will compete in two different seasons. It will also become the seventh new sport added since 2010 (in addition to wrestling, men's and women's cross country). Coach Terlea added: We want to start with about 20-30 kids and grow from there. There is a lot of competition locally and we will try to stay local to start with. We want to get kids from everywhere, but particularly from Arkansas. Our goal is to help them post times that will qualify them for both the American Midwest Conference meet and the national championship meet. The indoor track & field season will begin during the fall of 2018 and the outdoor track & field season will begin in the spring of 2019.
