Leadership Scholars Program
Overview of the Program
The Central Baptist College Leadership Scholars Program, directed by the Office of Admissions, recognizes outstanding incoming freshmen for their exemplary academic, leadership and personal accomplishments.
Each spring, a select number of recipients are chosen once they are admitted to Central Baptist College for the following fall semester to become Leadership Scholars. In recognition of their standing as Leadership Scholars, CBC provides a full tuition scholarship that is renewable for up to four years.
Among the top program benefits are staff mentoring and professional work experience in the Admissions Office as a student ambassador. In addition, this opportunity is an invaluable life experience and resume building opportunity.
In return, the Leadership Scholars provide service to the College by assisting the Office of Admissions or other on-campus offices in a variety of initiatives and tasks, including, but not limited to: Stampede Preview Days, campus tours, greeting visitors to the Office, and assisting with administrative duties.
To be eligible to receive the Leadership Scholars designation and scholarship, all candidates must:
Be admitted into the next fall entering class as first-time entering college students in the Traditional Program.
Be admitted as regular, non-probation students with no outstanding academic deficiencies.
Submit a completed Leadership Scholars Application Form to the Office of Admissions by the annual stated deadline. The application includes:
Three references – one from a pastor or youth pastor, one from a teacher, and one from an employer or a volunteer organization with whom the student has been involved.
Comprehensive essay that covers the applicant’s relationship with Christ, personal life story, future plans and goals, why they want to attend Central Baptist College, and how the designation of Leadership Scholar and the accompanying scholarship will affect their lives.
Be willing to comply with the stated terms regarding duties and expectations for Leadership Scholars. Each applicant’s materials will be evaluated by staff members of the Office of Admissions, then referred to the Leadership Scholars Selection Committee. The Committee, in turn, will contact a select number of students for personal interviews and make a final decision regarding recipients. Recipients will be notified by a representative of the Committee and asked to confirm acceptance of the award and scholarship.
