CBC Salvation Stories

CBC’s yearbook, the Carillon, included 150 salvation testimonies from students and faculty in its 2018 volume. These personal stories regarding the life-transforming factor of Jesus Christ correlated with the yearbook’s theme, Centralize, and the theme verse, Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (ESV)

Raley Thompson, Alum

“Senior Raley Thompson said her family did not regularly attend church. ‘I always had a hard time understanding how this amazing God we have loved me unconditionally,’ she said. Although Thompson was baptized in a Catholic church and exposed to church settings, she said her relationship with God wasn’t the best and high school was difficult because of ‘toxic’ friend relationships. ‘[High school] was very hard for me because I had no idea who I was or what I was,’ said Thompson. “I always had this emptiness that I would try to fill with the things my friends pushed at me.’ When she came to play volleyball for Central Baptist College, Thompson said she was challenged by her teammates and the message of chapel to grow spiritually.

‘In chapel, I kept hearing over and over about salvation and how much he loves me,’ said Thompson. ‘My teammates on the volleyball team always kept pushing me to go to church with them. ‘In her second semester, Thompson said she caved in and agreed to go to church with her teammates. She said she walked out completely changed. ‘All the toxic things I kept doing, I had no desire to do so anymore because I finally understood how much he loves me,’ she said. On December 4, 2016, she decided to be baptized.”

Haley Lingenfelter, Current Student

“I was saved when I was 11 years old. I was at church Camp and I had felt God working with me the whole week, but I fought it. On the last night during our evening worship I was getting ready to walk out and I turned around and looked at the altar and my dad was standing there, and I just burst into tears. So there, on the altar I gave my life to Christ.”

Nathan Fish, Current Student

“Around the age of seven, I noticed that everyone was eating bread and drinking juice on a certain day. That is literally what led me to accept Christ as my Savior. But it wasn’t a full-hearted agreement. So, around the age of 13 or 14, I had convinced everyone I was saved but never really said I was saved. A lonely July night in my bedroom, I was listening to Christian CDs on my stereo trying to go to sleep and that’s when I asked Jesus into my heart.”

Academic Excellence in a Christ-Centered Environment

Central Baptist College desires to support our student’s decisions to follow Jesus through a supportive but challenging higher education environment. Our faculty, staff and administration have all committed to follow Jesus and desire to nurture our students as they follow Jesus.

Our Mission

As followers of Jesus we are all called to lead others to Him. Some in full-time ministry and others in a different career path. But all as members of the body of Christ, committed to the mission of sharing the Gospel. Our hope is that our student’s hearts are transformed during their time on campus. So that they would choose to serve our Almighty God in the profession of their choice once they graduate from Central Baptist College.
