Central Baptist College Welcomes Max Sullivan to Lead Vocal Music Programs
July 7, 2025

Central Baptist College is pleased to announce the hiring of Max Sullivan as Director of Vocal Music and Assistant Professor of Music. A native of Bryant, Sullivan brings a rich background in vocal performance, worship leadership, and choral conducting to this role. Sullivan most recently served as the Worship Pastor at Valley Baptist Church in Searcy, where he directed multiple worship ensembles and oversaw music ministry operations. He holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Central Arkansas and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Central Baptist College.
“We are thrilled to welcome Max back to CBC in this important role,” said CBC President Dr. Jeremy Langley. “What impressed me most is his deep passion for exalting the name of Jesus through music. Combined with his academic preparation and longstanding ties to the Baptist Missionary Association, Max is uniquely equipped to lead and grow our vocal music programs with excellence and purpose.”
Sullivan succeeds longtime faculty member Jim Turner, who retired after 20 years of dedicated service to CBC’s music program. Turner expressed confidence in his successor. “Since Max was a student at CBC, I knew he would be great for this position,” he said. “He will not only bring the mastery of choral conducting, but also a heart for God and will be a great mentor to students. Great things will happen under his leadership!”
Sullivan will oversee the college’s Chamber Choir, Worship Choir, and the CBC Singers beginning with the Fall 2025 semester. He will also teach courses within the music department.
Sullivan and his wife Stephanie have two children and are members of Valley Baptist Church in Searcy.
